ABOUT
US
We Are a Non-profit Group of Marine Experts
Dedicated to Fostering Education and Conservation. We Are
Finding New Paths to the Arctic at a Critical Time for Climate
Research.
Our Mission:
The Society of Marine Explorers is a Registered Tax-deductible Charity Dedicated To Educating Children World-wide About The Arctic Through Shipboard Excursions.
We are also dedicated to the preservation of our maritime heritage through proper archaeological documentation of the world's historically significant shipwrecks. In conjunction with National Geographic, we can ensure that these wrecks are shared with everyone and the "treasure hunting" aspect is eliminated from the equation.
We are also researching climate change and the ship is able to run on bio-diesel with supplemental hydrogen fuel cell, solar and wind generation. This drastically reduces our carbon footprint and operating costs. A
close relationship with the native Inuit hunters and ambassadors
will help share their wealth of knowledge of the Arctic
region to the children who will benefit from their historical
perspective to help them understand the changes in the north
over the past number of decades.
We will
provide a safe, stable platform from which to view the natural
wonders of the Arctic such as polar bears, whales, seals,
icebergs and the vast landscape in which they inhabit. We
are dedicated to ensuring this beautiful area on earth is
more widely understood and to protect one of the last great
wilderness areas left on Earth today.
Our
intent is to insure this endeavor is carried out with the
lowest overhead expenses possible thus providing the majority
of every dollar raised goes directly to benefit the children.

Our 2007 - 2008 Goals Include:
Locating the lost ships from the 1845 Franklin expedition,
Documenting changes in the Arctic due to global warming and
pollution, supporting the goals of "The International
Polar Year" for better monitoring the unprecedented Arctic
melt-down by climate researchers, conservationists, marine
biologists and official weather agencies and filming arctic
wildlife & the Inuit culture for media educating children
about arctic lifestyles & ecological conservation.
